My story / Delaware, Ohio

From Intuit AI to my own small business.

I’m Nick. I worked in AI and data science at Intuit and am a named co-inventor on three patent filings, two granted. Now I run a plumbing and HVAC operation in Ohio. I know the research and the daily work behind the numbers.

Where it started

I grew up close to the trades.

My father was a carpenter. He knew his craft, but his business eventually went under because he did not know how to market it consistently. I saw how painful it was for good work to be invisible. That stuck with me.

I went to Columbus public schools and graduated from Whetstone High School. I attended Ohio State, then left before finishing my degree. My path was not a straight line into home services. At Intuit, I worked in platform product management and later led business data analytics and data science. I brought those lessons in software, AI, and operations back home with me.

AI was part of my work before the current boom.

I’m named as a co-inventor on three Intuit-assigned U.S. patent applications. The first, on AI call handling, was filed in 2021. Two of the three were granted.

I’m credited as a co-inventor; Intuit is the assignee.

Then I came home and started from zero.

I returned to Delaware, Ohio and launched a home service business without experience in the trade. I had to learn the day-to-day realities quickly: getting the phone answered, booking the right jobs, supporting technicians, following up, making payroll, and knowing which numbers to trust.

I built an operating system where marketing, calls, scheduling, field work, follow-up, billing, and reporting connect. Automation handles repeatable admin work; the team focuses on customers and craft. To my knowledge, ours was the fastest location in the brand to reach $1 million in completed revenue. In the eight months from February through September 2026, ServiceTitan recorded $1,218,482 in completed revenue and $1,382,945 in total sales.

Within six months, I added HVAC alongside plumbing using that same foundation, without a separate capital raise. That expansion taught me how much easier growth becomes when the underlying system is ready for it.

Why Overhead Zero exists.

I want to show other owners what I learned in the business itself. The first step is a free conversation: I show you the actual architecture and numbers, learn how your company runs, and we decide whether I can help. Central Ohio owners can also visit the Delaware operation by appointment to see the systems at work. There are no strings attached.

Intuit roles appear on Nick's LinkedIn profile. Family, education, expansion, financing, and fastest-location details are Nick's account. Revenue and sales figures are from the ServiceTitan Modular Dashboard, all business units, February 1–September 30, 2026. The dashboard does not establish a fastest-location ranking.
